Our customer needed a solution for removing flashing from their transmission valve castings. They had been using 20 employees working in 2 hour shifts (2 hours work, 2 hours break) to file the flashing by hand. The ergonomic health issues were enormous. CMI developed a solution by integrating a material handling robot and a DVT vision system with their existing trim press. The DVT cameras determine how much flashing must be removed and develop an offset factor used to modify the the deburring program resulting in an intelligent deburring machine.
