Researches have created a robot that can climb like a gecko

Creating a robot that is able to walk up walls like a gecko is no easy matter.  Researches at Simon Fraser University have created a 240 gram robot, called the tailless timing belt climbing platform, which can scale up smooth services like glass or metal and not leave any sticky residue. The adhesion comes from minuscule silicone bumps that utilizes Van der Waals forces to keep the robot from fall off.  The robot uses tracks instead of legs for its automation technologies, due to the simplicity of a belt system.  Sensors automatically detect if the robot needs to move due to a change in elevation or if it is losing grip.
