Cutting Laser

We have Albert Einstein to thank for the idea that led to the invention of the laser. In 1916, he developed a new theory of radiation that set the stage for the much later development of Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. It wasn't until the 1950s that work began in earnest on what has become one of our most useful tools.

When it was first invented, the laser was labeled "a solution looking for a problem." Today, though, lasers are everywhere. They make our CDs and DVDs play, they are used as scalpels in delicate surgery, and they read bar codes at the supermarket. They also have many uses in industry, but the most common is laser cutting. A carbon dioxide laser is most often used, though highly efficient semiconductor lasers are gaining on them.

The main advantage of laser cutting is precision. There is no cutting edge to wear, and lasers are less likely to warp the material being cut because the heat is confined to such a narrow space. Types of cutting lasers range from the simpler Flying Optics table to a six-axis laser capable of cutting on cast or machined parts.

No matter what kind of laser cutting system you are looking for, we can design it for you at Custom Machines, Inc. We are also one of the most experienced designers of integrated laser, robotics and vision systems. That means we can create an intelligent machine to your specifications, custom-made to solve your unique problems and improve your particular operation.
