Custom Machines was approached to assit in developing a custom laser weld cell.
Custom Machines Solution:
This system has been designed to laser weld hardened wear strips on both sides of several different styles of professional chain saw bars. The cell incorporates a gantry system to automatically load and unload the chain saw bars from customer supplied carts. In order to weld both sides of the chain saw bars an automated flip over station is incoporated. A Fanuc robot moves the chain saw bars through the cell and the welding area. To accomodate the different chain saw bar styles two separate welding fixtures are mounted on a pneumatically operated shuttle table.
